SHE will be treading onto new territory in the fashion industry when she showcases her Insecta Collection at next week's Fiji Fashion Week.
Sonam Sapra, 26, has only been designing for six months but is excited to be a part of the much anticipated event.
Born and raised in Labasa she migrated to the USwith her family before she turned one and has lived in countries like Bangladesh, Kenya, Iran and India but returned to Fiji seven months ago.
"My designs are bright and bold with influence from the places I have visited and lived in," she said.
She likes to be called a textile designer and not a fashion designer as she designs fabrics.
"I studied to be a graphic designer but six months ago, after moving back to Fiji I started doodling and drawing and that's how it's all started.
"I have achieved so much in the past three months in terms of my clothing line than I would ever think was possible.
"I am excited to be a part of Fiji Fashion, but I do not know how people will react to the Insecta Collection. Either way, whether they love it or not, they surely won't forget me when they see my designs."
Ms Sapra will feature on the final day of the Fiji Fashion Week on Saturday in the Emerging Designers Show.
The Fiji Fashion week begins at 7.30pm on Thursday at the Vodafone Arena.
Fiji's fashion industry and related activities have picked up momentum over the past years with many debutants receiving accolades and exposure with their colourful collections.
Some local designers have achieved business scuccess through networking during the event, with some even receving commendations and positive reviews from abroad.
