DAKAR — The Africa Cup of Nations qualifier between Senegal and Ivory Coast was abandoned Saturday after home fans went on the rampage as their team slipped towards defeat.
Violence erupted at the Stade Leopold Sedar Senghor 15 minutes from the end of the second leg of the tie when Ivory Coast skipper Didier Drogba scored his second goal of the night from the penalty spot.Fires were set in the stands while stones, chairs and bottles were reportedly thrown at the players.
