Fiji through to Gold Coast finals

Update: 6:40PM THE Digicel Fiji sevens team is through to the finals of the Gold Coast 7s tournament after a fine 21-10 victory over South Africa in the first cup semifinal at Skilled Park yesterday.

The defending champions, led by instrumental captain Levani Botia ended the Blitzboks unbeaten run. Star playmaker Joji the razor Ragamate was the orchestrator for the Fijians. Nadroga openside flanker Ulaiasi Lawavou scored the opener for Fiji, Ragamate extended Fijis lead to 14-7 at the break. Wardens playmaker Ilai Tinai paid his debt for spending two minutes in the sin-bin and put the nail on the coffin with a late second half try. Fiji will face the winner of New Zealand and Kenya in the Cup final which kicks at 9.04pm (Fiji Time).
