Angry mob
Savusavu player, Roderick Kumar, ended up receiving police protection after receiving a red card. Kumar was sent off for a dangerous tackle on a Ba player and the fans of the home team shouted out "maaro" (hit him) after which some spectators did punch him a few times as he walked out behind Pavilion B at Govind Park. About 100 spectators mobbed Kumar and attempted to beat him up but police officers present close by rescued him.
At the movies
On Friday, while all teams were busy trying to figure out their game plan for the next match, the Navua soccer team was watching movies at Village 4 in Lautoka. Apperantly, they came into the tournament to avoid losses and were expecting to draw their games but they ended up winning all their pool games to become the first team to qualify for the semi-finals.
Two horns
In what came as a shock to me only two horns were heard during the games at Govind Park. And I did not hear a single hoot of the vuvuzela in the soccer crazy town. Also there were no banners or flags even though some people were selling them right beside the ground.
