A GOAL each to Samuel Nair and Vineel Naidu took Taveuni into their first ever Inter-District Championship premier division final since 1971.

The side has never won the title but are optimistic of their chances after their 2-0 win over Dreketi yesterday.

Taveuni will face former champions Tailevu Naitasiri (T/N) at 3pm today.

Team captain Vijendra Kumar said they lost to T/N three times since last weekend.

He said it would be sweet revenge if they beat them in the final.

"We won the semi-final but we noticed a lot of mistakes that we made," Kumar said.

"Firstly, there is a lot of individual play and there is a lot of ball watching going on," he said.

He said the players would need to lift their game.

"T/N will not be an easy team, they have beaten us three times, twice in the national premier division play-off and once in pool play.

"So our players will need to be fully focused on the match and work as a team to win tomorrow (today)," Kumar said.

Taveuni will meet T/N in the final at 3pm.
