T/Naitasiri on the roll

A NEW winner will be crowned in the premier division of the Inter District Championship today.

This was after defending champions, Lami, were humiliated 0-7 by Tailevu Naitasiri (T/N) in the second semi-final at Govind Park yesterday.

It was sweet revenge for the Tagi Vonolagi -coached side as they were defending the title last year when Lami beat them 3-1 in the final in Suva.

A brace of goals to Jale Vota and Hoteshwar Prasad and a goal each to Ricky Prasad, Vishnu Deo and Ashwin Lal eased T/N into the final.

T/N led 3-0 at half time and continued to apply pressure in the second half to pile on the goals.

Vonolagi refused to admit it was a walk in the park for his team and said they came well prepared for the semi-final.

"We prepared to play every game as a final and so we gave a much better performance compared to our previous games," the former national rep said.

He said a lot needs to be done to ensure they win back the IDC title.

"Players needs to give their full concentration when playing and sometimes they get thickheaded but that will be sorted and we will come prepared to win the final," Vonolagi said.

Lami team captain Mark Rokobuli said his side did not adjust well to a new formation the side was trying to adopt.

"The players were new to the formation and our opponents took advantage of the gaps and scored early goals to upset our game plan," he said.

T/N will meet Taveuni in the final at 3pm today.
