THE Sydney Fijian rugby team won the Pacific Four Nations Cup beating Samoa 5-0 in the finals at the Parramatta Rugby RSL club grounds in Merrylands, Sydney last month.
The competition is made of three Pacific Island teams, Fiji, Samoa and Tonga while the Australian Indigenous was the fourth team.
Tomasi Vunivalu scored the only try of the match to tip their Pacific rivals.
Fiji, which had the likes of Vunivalu and Senitiki Qata, beat the Indigenous team 20-9 and later edged Tonga 23-19 to book a place in the final.
Coached by Iliesa Saukuru and Maleli Naulivou, Fiji finished the tournament on an unbeaten note.
Team trainer Bill Turagavou said they were happy to have won the first tournament.
"This is the first year we are introducing the tournament and we are pleased to win it."
He said they were looking forward to another exciting sevens tournament at the Fiji Day celebrations today in Australia.
