DEFENDING Primary Schools champions Ba made a bright start to their campaign with a 1-0 win over Rewa at the academy ground yesterday.
Emosi Nabava starred for the Ba team scoring the lone goal in the seventh minute.
Ba dominated the match but failed to build on their advantage with striker Joeli Ranitu off target on several occasions.
Lack of basics was a drawback for Ba. Many times Ba's throws were ruled foul.
Ba team coach Timoci Seru admitted that they needed to tidy up a few areas particularly their attacking play.
"We are happy with the winning start," the DAV Primary School Class Three teacher said.
"We had qualified for the Fiji Primary Schools Inter District Competition in Tavua but lost in the quarter-final of the Under-14 grade," Seru said.
"We went down to eventual winners Tavua. But our U12 team won. So what we did was drop a few of the U14 players and draft some of the best U12 players in this team."
"We hope to do well in the next match against Nadogo. We played against them in the Primary Schools IDC.
The fitness level of the players is good."
"A few players are carrying injuries but we are hopeful that they will recover before the next match. We need to improve on the crossing and the throw in. The boys have been hasty in those areas."
Ba Primary will face Nadogo Primary at 9am at Govind Park today.
