THIS is Suva's tournament to lose.
Last night they notched a late winner to put host side on the verge of elimination from the Courts Inter-district Championship.
Issa Sani drove home from close range as the Whites won 1-0.
Gurjit Singh's team is the form team and it will take something special to stop them from winning their first IDC in 29 years.
They last won in 1983 at home but showed earlier this year that they could reign on western soil after bagging the Fiji FACT crown in Ba last May.
Chances were few for both teams in last night's game with both defences holding out especially Suva led by Samuela Vula and skipper Simione Maikali at the back.
Ba is on one point from two games and faces a do-or-die effort against Nadi tonight. Suva is on six points and plays Rewa today.
Rewa is on one point from the 1-all draw against Ba and plays Suva and Savusavu today.
Viliame Toma was pushed forward yesterday and scored to give his side the lead.
They held on to that lead but were stunned early in the second half through a Roderick Kumar goal. The former Tailevu Naitasiri and Rewa rep netted a good goal from an acute angle.
Former Ba and Nasinu rep Isoa Ratuva netted the winner for the Jet-setters. The team in green is not looking convincing at all. They have three points from two games and will come up in a western derby with Ba tonight.
Savusavu with Pene Erenio at the back looking good and will fancy their chances of at least upsetting either Ba, Suva or Rewa.
Yesterday's game was their first of the tournament.
In other super premier games yesterday, Labasa came from behind to beat a plucky Tavua side.
The Lions have three points and will need to beat Lautoka tonight to stay in contention.
Tavua with nothing from one game comes up against Nadroga today and plays two games tomorrow.
The surprise package of this tournament though has been the Navuans.
A win or draw against Nadroga today will seal their berth in the semi-final.
Today's predictions:
Premier Division:
Dreketi 0 Seaqaqa 2; Rakiraki 2 Bua 0; Tailevi Naitasiri 1 Nasinu 0; Vatukoula 0 Taveuni 1; Lami 1 Rakiraki 2.
Super Premier:
Nadroga 1 Navua 0: Nadroga rested yesterday. That's a plus for them.
They will have more energy to burn in the scorching heat.
Rewa 2 Savusavu 0: Rewa will take heart from the 1-all draw with Ba, a game they should have won.
They won't have it all their way but should win in the end.
Nadroga 1 Tavua 1: This has a draw written all over it. Neither teams will make it out of pool play.
Suva 1 Rewa 0: This should be another win for Suva. They are simply too slick, powerful and fit.
Lautoka 1 Labasa 0: The Blues will bag this one. This Lions team is simply out of form.
Ba 2 Nadi 0: Watch Ba come alive tonight. They are down but not out.
