Cuvu first round
THE Cuvu Volleyball Association will play its first ever round of competition tomorrow at the Cuvu Hard Courts. Association vice president Jerry Cakau said the association was formed just last month and since then 12 men's and eight women's teams have joined the association. "We are very thankful to the Fiji Volleyball Federation for allowing us to be part of the national body," Cakau said. "We will play our first round of games this weekend and some former national reps like Uraia Waqatabu and Ilaitia Senivota are playing in this association and we would like to wish all the teams the very best for the competition," he said.
Nadawa tourney
THE Nadawa Volleyball Association will start the 2012/2013 season with a knockout tournament tomorrow at the Babasiga Ground. Association official Leba Dakukoro said more teams might join the association for the new season. "We had a total of 11 teams, eight men's and three women's in last season competition," Dakukoro said. "We are looking to increase that and are expecting close of 15 teams to compete in the knockout this weekend and would like to encourage other teams to contact me if they want to join the association for the new season," she said.
Venue upgrade
NO games will be played in the University of the South Pacific Islanders Volleyball Association this weekend. This was after the unavailability of venues forced the organisers to postpone the games. USPIVA secretary Mereaia Belo said their usual venue was under renovation. "The USP indoor-gym will be closed for renovations so we had to postpone the game," Belo said. USP sport co-ordinator Gabrielle Qoro said the venue for the October 20 games would be confirmed next week.
