A BUS company has raised its concern over the stoning of one its buses.
A Shore Buses Limited bus servicing the Waiqanake Village route was pelted with coconuts on Tuesday night. Company transport supervisor Arvind Prasad said the incident was the second in a month.
"The first time the youths from the same village threw stones at one of our buses and this time they threw coconuts," Mr Prasad said.
He said as a result of the incidents window glasses were broken resulting in damage of upto $1400.
Mr Prasad said it was fortunate the bus was being driven to the yard after dropping off the passengers.
"Luckily no passengers were in the bus otherwise they would have suffered serious injuries," he said.
Mr Prasad said they raised the issue with the village headman but had yet to receive a response from him.
"We continue to bring new buses and improve our services but this type of attitude from people is not doing any justice," he said. Mr Prasad said despite the incident they had not stopped their service to Waiqanake.
Police spokeswoman Ana Naisoro confirmed receiving two reports, however, they have not been able to identify the culprits.
