THE Education Ministry is conducting a workshop to improve the delivery of primary school teaching in the Eastern Division.
The workshop is about internal assessment and assisting children continuously as the ministry moves away from the formal examination. Tai District School teacher Maritana Domoni said the workshop had been very informative.
"We are dealing with beginners and this workshop is very important for me," Ms Domoni said.
"If a child is not academically well, this internal assessment will help them develop in other areas like sports, arts and music," she said.
Principal education officer Isoa Naulumatua said children would benefit from the assessment. "The classroom based assessment will improve their learning techniques and also assist teachers to prepare a child well," said Mr Naulumatua.
"Now we are including ongoing assessments that include tasks and tests and this will come along with the examination that the students used to sit," said a workshop facilitator who wished to remain anonymous.
