OLD scholars of Marist Brothers High School who were members of Alphonsus house organised a charity golf tournament at the Fiji Golf Club (FGC) course in Vatuwaqa yesterday.
About 90 golfers took part in the day-long event to contribute towards the Marist Old Boys (MOB) trust fund.
Tournament organiser Billy Singh was overwhelmed with the turnout and support from the ex-MBHS scholars along with the FGC members.
He said they hosted the charity tournament annually to raise funds for needy students at school.
"We also contribute towards the maintenance of the school and brothers quarters."
Singh said they held a stableford event for amateur category only in the men's and ladies division.
The men's overall winner was Zavir Khan, who scored 44 followed by Michael Andrews on 43 and Gigua Leca came third with 42 on countback.
The ladies grade was won by Susie Yee who scored 38.
Singh said they witnessed competitive golf from the participants.
"The turnout was really good and everybody enjoyed the competition. We also had some entertainments along with beer and finger foods to make the day more enjoyable."
Entry fees to the event was $20 per person, which went to the MOB trust along with the donations from the participants.
