THE Garden Island of Taveuni is on track AT the Courts Inter District Competition after recording two wins at the academy ground in Ba yesterday.

The Billy Hussein-coached side pulled off one of the biggest surprise in the Premier Division on day one after upsetting the Allen Jesoni-coached Nasinu team 2-0.

In their first match Taveuni downed Nadogo 1-0.

Taveuni took Nasinu by surprise scoring early.

Samuel Nair netted in the fourth minute to give the southerners the advantage.

Taveuni settled well taking control of the match.

Veteran Shalendra Buisena doubled Taveuni's advantage in the 20th minute.

Nasinu tried hard to get back into the match in the second spell but could not find the target.

Taveuni coach Hussein said they had started the tournament on a positive note.

He said the result against Nasinu was very important.

Hussein said they were able to avenge their Battle of the Giants final's loss to Nasinu.

"We are missing some key players who have returned to sit their school examinations after the Viti Levu versus Vanua Levu play-off," Hussein said.

"But this win against Nasinu is very important for us. We lost to Nasinu in the Battle of the Giants final. So it was good revenge."

"We will be facing Tailevu Naitasiri next. We played them twice over 90 minutes last weekend. I know my boys are getting tired. The fatigue is setting in. The main thing now is recovery. We will try and do our best. We need the prayers from our supporters."

Taveuni will face Tailevu Naitasiri at 2.15pm at the academy ground in Ba today.
