THE township of Nasinu came alive on Tuesday as people from all walks of life celebrated Fiji Day in style at Valelevu.

Wearing something blue, students from schools around Nasinu, business houses, government departments and members of the public took time out from their busy schedules to be part of the celebration organised by the Nasinu Town Council.

Special administrator, Mosese Kama said Fiji's unique culture spoke volumes at the event where residents gathered to appreciate one another's culture and tradition.

The performance from the Muanikoso Dance group captured the attention of many people with their Hindi action song.

Mr Kama said the response from the people of Nasinu was overwhelming.

"It is important that people unite as one family in all aspects of life," Mr Kama said.

He said independence was about how people valued themselves.

"We're grateful for the quick reaction from businesshouses despite this last minute program as requested by the Ministry of Defence," he said.

The Fiji Police Force band was also present to commemorate Fiji's 42 years of independence.
