JEAN-Francois Delahaye is no stranger to the Pacific Islands particularly to the tourism and hospitality industry.

Today, he joins the Sofitel Fiji Resort & Spa family as the newly appointed director of food and beverage.

In a statement, the resort said the appointment strengthened its credentials as the region's best food and beverage destination.

"Mr Delahaye joins the resort with strong background in food and beverage having worked in Sofitels across the globe including Manila, French Polynesia, Equatorial Guinea and even Turkmenistan," the resort said.

"He will oversee food operations in the resort's various dining outlets including the fine-dining V Restaurant, the award-winning beachside salt and lagoon restaurant and will oversee improvements to the resort's conference and event menus."

Meanwhile, Mr Delahaye commended the production of local produce he deemed to be 'of very high quality'.

He would work closely with Sofitel's executive chef Brendon Coffey who, the resort says, is famous for having introduced more regional ingredients onto the menus for Sofitel, and local suppliers.
