THE government is overwhelmed with the support it has received from the people of Fiji on the occasion of the country's 42nd anniversary of Independence.
Confirming this Information permanent secretary Sharon Smith-Johns said the government wanted everyone to celebrate this joyous occasion. "Everyone should get behind the celebrations, participate in the Fiji Day events and support the country," Ms Smith-Johns said, adding that the occasion was a time for unity.
"People must forget whatever happened in the past, take pride and unite to celebrate Fiji Day like other countries celebrate their indepedence," Ms Smith-Johns said.
She also appealed to business houses to put up a flag and show their support.
"Decorate your shops with the colour blue and white and show your support," Ms Smith-Johns said.
