THE Vatukoula soccer team will be looking to break its losing jinx at the Inter District Championship tournament in Ba tomorrow.

The gold mine team have not reached the semi-final stages of the tournament for the past several years and yesterday, the team revealed their ambition of achieving the milestone this week.

Vatukoula faces an uphill battle from Tailevu Naitasiri in their opening game tomorrow.

Association secretary Vimal Kumar said they had potential players that could carry out the job in Ba this weekend.

"We have not reached the semi-finals for the past years and we are working hard to at least reach the finals this year. That is our goal, we know it is not going to be easy but we have potential players in the team that are capable of achieving the fate," Kumar said.

Training under the watchful eyes of Niko Rokomatu, Vatukoula is ready to prove their worth against all odds.

"Our first game is against Tailevu Naitasiri, we know this is a very tough beginning for us. Tailevu Naitasiri is a good team and they have been playing continuously for the past few weeks. For us, we have been training but we have not been playing games for nearly two months now. We will just have to go into the field and give our best shot," Kumar said.

The Vatukoula and Tailevu Naitasiri match kicks off at 10.15am at the Ba Academy grounds tomorrow.
