Fijians notch tries

FIJIANS Timoci Matanavou and Metuisela Talebula scored a brace of tries each when they faced each other in the French Top 14 clash on Saturday.

But it was Matanavou's Toulouse which made a grand comeback in the second spell to beat Talebula's Bordeaux-Begles 34-32.

Former Fiji 7s star Talebula got his double in the opening spell to put his side in the lead but Matanavou's second spell tries saw Toulouse escape with a close win.

Some other Fijian players plying trade in France also featured for their respective teams in the Top 14 competition.

Flying Fijian Aloisio Butonidualevu came off the bench to score a decisive try for the FC Grenoble in the 78th minute and beat Perpignan 28-23.

Viliame Waqaseduadua also featured for Grenoble.

Napolioni Nalaga and Noa Nakaitaci played for Top 14 leaders Clermont but failed to help the side beat Castres after slumping to a 13-16 loss.

Gabrieli Lovobalavu and Joe Rokocoko's Bayonne defeated Agen 37-16 while Sireli Bobo and Masi Matadigo's Racing Metro lost to Timoci Nagusa's Montpellier 12-16.

Former Flying Fijian Daniele Baleinadogo scored a try for Mont-de-Marsan but it was not enough as the side lost to Stade Français Paris 28-30.

Wame Lewaravu also played for Mont-de-Marsan.
