Resident wants airport improved

ALL Labasa-bound flights should be improved and airfares made reasonable because many customers opt for such services nowadays.

This was part of Labasa resident Padmawati Deo's submission to the Constitution Commission last week.

"At present, flights to Labasa from Suva and Nadi are expensive and unreliable.

"Sometimes it's frustrating and time-consuming because customers have to wait for hours in order to catch the next flight," she said.

Mrs Deo said an international airport would be cheaper because people would not spend extra money on accommodation and food while travelling on domestic flights through Nadi and Suva for overseas.

"The international airport should also be used for night landings because some flights arrive at night," she said.

She also proposed that proper planning be done for more developments in Labasa.

"There's lack of space available for development like parks, bus stand and botanical gardens and it's not too late to do proper planning so we can beautify our town," she said.
