A LAND Transport Authority staff member's vehicle was stolen from her workplace on Thursday.
Jane Prasad parked her Toyota Sprinter registration ET535 in the LTA yard in Valelevu, Nasinu and went to work. She later found the car missing.
Ms Prasad, who has been working for LTA for the past 11 years, said this was the first time in LTA's history for a car to be stolen from the yard.
"This is the first time ever for any vehicle to be missing from the yard," she said.
Ms Prasad said two security officers were at the back of the yard when the theft happened.
"This is daylight robbery on LTA compound. Everybody was shocked when this happened."
Ms Prasad is pleading to members of the public to be on the look out for her car.
"I need my vehicle. The vehicle is good and new and it is my arms and legs," she said.
LTA spokesman Alfred Wiliame said they had questioned two security guards who were on duty that day.
He said this was a very surprising issue for the authority.
"We have trusted the security to do their job to secure the premises. This is their responsibility and we have questioned the security company."
However, Mr Wiliame said they had left the matter to the police.
Police spokeswoman Ana Naisoro said they were worried the vehicle could be used for another illegal activity.
Ms Naisoro said they were working around the clock to search for Ms Prasad's car.
"We are investigating the matter and requesting members of the public to report to their nearest police station if they see/know the whereabouts of the car," she said.
