CRICKET Fiji is looking to select a formidable side from the Elite Player League (EPL) to represent Fiji in the East Asia Pacific Competition next year.

Fiji finished second in last year's event behind Papua New Guinea but this time around, they want to go one step ahead and win the title.

Round three competition of the EPL will be played today at Albert Park despite the bad weather conditions faced in the capital city.

Cricket Fiji chief executive officer Sonny Henderson said only nine players from last year's national squad were part of the EPL. He added 10 players in the competition are knocking on the selection door and some of them may force their way into the final national squad.

"The message to all players is that everyone has a chance of making the national team," Henderson said.

"We are looking for dedicated players that will have pride wearing the national uniform and that will give 100 per cent for Fiji," he said.

"This is a new era for Cricket Fiji and priorities are professionalism, dedication and pride."

Today's games will see the Sportsworld Bulls face Novotel Warriors and HMT Barbarians take on the Mobimedia Knights.
