Torch relay
IN its bid to spread the awareness of the Inter District Championship, the Fiji Football Association will hold a torch relay from Suva to Lautoka. A statement from Fiji FA said the torch relay was common in the past but was not conducted for a few years because of lack of support from districts. The relay will start today at Courts Samabula (9am) and go to Courts Navua (10am) then to Courts Sigatoka (11.30am) to Courts Nadi (1pm) and end at Courts Lautoka at 2.30pm. "The torch relay is a means of spreading awareness of the tournament and it also gives extra mileage to our sponsors," said the statement. "All teams (Suva/Navua/Nadroga/Nadi/Lautoka) are requested to attend the relay with your teams in full Courts IDC 2012 uniform."
IDC boost
THE Lami soccer side has been boosted with sponsorship ahead of the Courts Inter District Championship in Ba next week. General Machinery will sponsor the defending champions of the Premier grade who are pooled with Bua, Dreketi, Seaqaqa and Rakiraki in Pool 1 for the tournament. Lami Football Association general secretary Rajesh Narayan said the sponsorship deal had boosted the morale of the team and added extra strength in their preparation for the defence of the title. "Defending a title is always a mammoth task but we are confident of a good outing in the tournament," Narayan said.
IDC referees
THE Fiji Football Association has identified the referees who will be officiating at the Inter-District Championship next week. A statement of fijifootball.com.fj stated the following referees are requested to arrange for their leave: Andrew Achari, Rakesh Chandra, Dina Mani, Ravitesh Behari, Avinesh Narayan, Mohd Imraan, Mohd Salim, Rakesh Varman, Sunil Narayan, Yognesh Nair, Luisa Diloni, Ujwaal Mudaliar, Mohd Aktar, Salesh Chand, Phul Singh, Ajesh Prasad, Karunesh Chand, Shavnil Prasad, Finau Vulivuli, Varun Lal, Kavitesh Behari, Faraz Hussein, Amitesh Behari, Rohitesh Naicker and Adriu Naisaroki. Rehan Ali and Jone Ravouvou will be cadets while Mahen Singh, Shalen Kumar, Mukesh Chand, Mohd Kazim, RK Sharma and Balram Nair will be the refereer assesors. "All referees are requested to be at Govind Park on October 10 no later than 8am," said the statement.
Presentation
The Nadi Football Association is organising a presentation night for its team to the Courts IDC in Ba next week. The presentation ceremony will be held on Monday at the Fun World Plaza, in Nadi starting at 7pm. Nadi is one of the favorites in this year's tournament and they will be sponsored by Fairdeal Earthmoving Contractors Ltd
