THE Lautoka Golf Club will be a hive of activity today with the staging of two major events at the golf links course.

The SK Davey (Nadi) Limited-sponsored 18-holes stroke event will take centre stage today in readiness for the all important Cleveland/Srixon-sponsored club championship qualifying round next Wednesday.

LGC trustee, Raymond Singh said the event would include past and current LGC members.

James Krishna, Suren Pillay, Zabir Ali, Prem Chand and John Krishna are some of the heavy weights for the day.

"Top guns from each of the respective A, B, C grades will battle it out for the excellent prizes up for grabs. A host of champion golfers will be vying for the top honours on both events," Singh said.

Former Lautoka soccer captain and national rep Vinod Chand, veteran greens director Gaffar Ali, Moh'd Shariff and Abdul Khan will be the dark horses on both the events.

The inform, 13-year-old Michael Nair, Christopher Nair and Eparama Bola will spearhead the Juniors group to win the top prizes.

Singh said the course was in tip-top condition and excellent scores would be the order of the day with this sudden rainy spell to cushion the greens.
