A fun run from the Hideaway Hotel to Sigatoka Town will start the 2012 Sigatoka Bilibili Race next week.
The annual event, which will be hosted at the banks of the Sigatoka River, has attracted 12 teams from various stakeholders in the tourism industry.
Apart from hotels and companies associated with the tourism industry in the Coral Coast area, two teams from the Holiday Inn and the University of the South Pacific will be flying the capital city's flag at what is expected to be a fun filled one-day event.
Competition official Una Murray said preparations regarding the 2012 Bilibili Race was on track.
"The competition committee has been meeting throughout the year as we worked on the planning for the competition program," Murray said.
"Reactions from the various teams that will be participating in the different competitions show that they all have been training hard.
"Our aim is to improve on the standard we achieved last year," Murray said. Some of the events that will be competed for include relay for waiters, coconut tunnel ball, egg throwing, tug-of-war, kayak race and the feature race of the day which is the bilibili race.
The Bilibili Race was first organised in 1984.
