LAUCALA Bay Secondary School student Kitione Lalakomacoi is expected to lead a newlook Cakau team when they face Suva Volleyball Association FBC Challenge champion Marist Blue this Saturday.

Cakau manager Manoa Ranasau said they would be without their key players for this week's challenge.

Ranasau said a new set of players would be selected to take on the defending champions.

Ranasau said all their key players had left Suva this week for work on Qamea Island in Vanua Levu and would miss the challenge.

"All our senior players who played in the knockout final last week will not be there for this challenge," Ranasau said.

"We will have a new team led by LBSS student Lalakomacoi."

Ranasau said Lalakomacoi would be supported by former national rep Manasa Colati.

"We have a very young team, most are school students but I believe we will give the defending champions a good run this Saturday," he said.

"For the knockout we didn't train because of the wet weather last week but we reached the final. For this challenge we're fortunate to have a few training sessions together.

"We know Marist is a very strong team but we are confident we will go out there and give them a good go this weekend."

The Cakau team consists of players who reside at the Cakau Housing Estate in Kinoya.

Games start at 9am at the Laucala Multi-purpose Courts.
