THE Fiji team failed to get off to a good start during the opening round of the World Amateur Team Championship in Turkey.
Fiji was tied for 54th after round one.
The side totalled 154 with the scores of Anuresh Chandra and Olaf Allen Jr being counted. Both golfers carded 77.
Vikrant Chandra scored 80.
Anuresh scored two birdies, 11 pars, two bogeys and three double bogeys for a total of six-over par 77.
Allen Jr carded three birdies, seven pars, seven bogeys and one double bogey for a total of six-over par 77.
Vikrant scored three birdies, seven pars, four bogeys and four double bogeys for a total of nine-over par 80.
National Golf Association of Fiji secretary Amitesh Chandra said the side would need to improve in order to achieve their goal of finishing within the top 20.
United States of America with Chris Williams, Justin Thomas and Steven Fox scored a brilliant 131 to take the first round lead.
