FOUR schools in Kadavu are working on a three-year development plan before competing at the Fiji Primary Schools Kaji Rugby competition.
Muani Village School, Ravitaki District School, Nasegai District School and Ratu Nacagilevu Memorial School will have a sports day next Friday.
Ravitaki District official Josua Bici said students would play rugby and netball in three different grades.
"Our aim is to develop the young talents here in our area. We have four schools that will be competing in three grades (under-10, U12 and U14) in netball and rugby," Bici said.
"We want to build the foundation here and develop these untapped talents as we look at our long term goal of competing in the Milo kaji rugby and netball in the future."
Bici, a former Tailevu North rugby official, said he was thankful to be given an opportunity to share his rugby knowledge to the rural areas.
He said the district was yet to take part at any national kaji rugby competition.
"This is totally new to us and we are slowly organising things together so we could achieve our long term goal.
"This is the beginning of everything of our development program and we are looking forward to it," he said.
The sports day will be held at Ravitaki District School grounds next week on Friday.
