LEADERSHIP Fiji 2012 has brought a smile to the faces of Navatu Primary School students by helping the school access a regular supply of clean water.

Navatu Primary School — formerly Navatu Fijian School is located about 8km from Vaileka town towards Tavua and situated just on the main highway.

The school is run by school management and mostly depends on government grants for assistance.

The school has a roll of 80 students with four teachers teaching from classes one to eight.

Parents of the school students are mostly seasonal cane cutters and fishermen.

According to a statement, in the past the school faced constant water supply problems because of the dry season.

The school shared water with Naivuvuni Village which was also affected in the dry seasons.

The school management also faced financial difficulties establishing a connection from a borehole to the water tank located on a hill.

Leadership Fiji 2012 offered funding for the project and ensured the school is now able to access safe and clean water.

Library books and stationery were also given by the group during their visit to the school.

The group was welcomed by the school management with a sevusevu ceremony and lunch.
