Complaints prompt service improvement

POLICE officers in Nadi have embarked on an exercise designed to improve services and accountability.

This follows numerous complaints that have been received against officers at the Nadi Police Station.

Station officer-in-charge Assistant Superintendent Simione Bale admitted that a lot of complaints against police in the Nadi area were because of poor service delivery whereby officers could not be contacted on time or for feedback.

"What we want to do is inform the public of all our contact numbers and let them know that we are here for them 24/7 and there should be no excuses given from us that we can't attend to a report or complaint," he said.

"We admit that we need to step up our game."

In a statement issued on Wednesday, Fiji Police Force Commissioner Brigadier General Ioane Naivalurua said police officers as professionals providing a service should be approachable and reachable at all hours of the day.
