FIJIANA sevens coach Elenoa Kunatuba says winning all pool matches is crucial for her side in trying to qualify for the 2013 Rugby World Cup 7s in Moscow.
The Fijiana 7s team flew out of the country yesterday morning with a mission of winning the Asian Rugby 7s Women's Championship.
With only the top three teams form the tournament qualifying for a place at the RWC in Moscow, Kunatuba said they were focused on their games in Pune, India.
With six debutants in the team, Kunatuba is confident the team is the best available.
"The new girls are nervous, which is natural, but I have been encouraging them not to lose sight of our vision which is Moscow," she told the fijirugby website.
"The girls cannot wait to get on the field but most importantly they are fit and injury free which is very encouraging."
Fiji Rugby Union chief executive Manasa Baravilala reminded the girls how important the tournament was.
"Mr Baravilala reminded the girls that they were not only representing Fiji but the Oceanic region as well, he also said how proud he was of the team, which has psyched up the girls and made them understand the importance of winning" Kunatuba said.
The Fijiana will be up against Chinese Taipei, Sri Lanka and South Korea in Pool B and Kunatuba said they were treating each game as a final.
"We are prepared to win, but we will have to get past the first hurdle which is to win our pool games.
"All the teams will be vying for a spot at the RWC 2013 and with Tunisia already qualifying, that just shows us the level of competition out there."
She urged the public to rally behind the girls as they try to qualify for the 2013 RWC 7s.
