INTERCONTINENTAL Fiji Golf Resort and Spa hopes to educate future generations by involving schools in their monthly beach clean-up aimed at keeping one of Fiji's best beaches pristine.
"Ocean litter is one of the most widespread problems threatening our ocean and waterways," said resort chief engineer Natwar Patel. "Rubbish in the water can impact not only human health but also threatens wildlife which is one of the main attractions for tourists visiting a tropical paradise getaway."
General manager Scott Williams said: "It is so fantastic to see employees and children from Malomalo Village getting involved and working together in such a positive way.
"This is a labour of love for us. Locals may know InterContinental Fiji as the People's Resort due to its ownership by the Fiji National Provident Fund, and as such we are dedicated to our community and environmental efforts."
The resort is part of the InterContinental Hotel Group (IHG) which offers more than 4500 hotels in 100 countries across the globe.
