The national golf team will be eyeing for a better finish at the World Amateur Teams Championship in Antalya, Turkey this week.

The side including inform Vikrant Chandra, Olaf Allen Jr and Anuresh Chandra had been practising at the Natadola Bay Resort Championship course for the past three weeks.

In 2006, Fiji finished in 52nd position. The side included Arvin Lal, Neelkash Ram and Allen Jr. Anuresh travelled with the team to Cape Town, South Africa as a reserve member.

In 2008, Fiji was tied in 48th position in Australia. The side included Sam Lee, Allen Jr and Ram. Anuresh was again the travelling reserve.

Anuresh, the Airports Fiji Limited fireman said this would be the first time for him to play in the tournament.

The 32-year-old said he would give his best shot.

He said their target was to finish in the top 20.

"I have travelled with the team for the tournament twice before but never played," Anuresh said.

"Actually we were supposed to play in the World Amateur Teams Championship in Argentina in 2010 but the trip never eventuated. This time we have had good practice. "We have bonded well playing together nearly every week for two months. We would like to thank all the corporate bodies that supported us during the fundraising. We are the only island nation from the South Pacific that will be participating."

The countries will compete for the Eisenhower Trophy at the Antalya Golf Club and Cornelia Golf Club from October 4-7.
