Hunt on for coach

THREE former national reps have been shortlisted to guide Lautoka during the Courts Inter District Championship in Ba next week.

They include Sam Work, Jeremaia Ledua and John Monday.

Former coaches Roblyn Autar and Lambert Sarju have also been eyed for the position along with Australian-based Edwin Narayan and Sam Lal.

Lautoka Football Association president Shalendra Prasad said they would be holding a meeting today to discuss the coaching role.

He said they needed to appoint a coach urgently since there wasn't much time left for the tournament.

"The coaching position will be on a voluntary basis," Prasad said.

"We will be discussing this with the people that have been eyed for the job. Also we are negotiating with a few companies to sponsor the team."

"We have named a 30-member squad and this will be reduced to 22 soon."

Meanwhile, Peni Finau and Alvin Avinesh are unlikely to feature for the Blues in the IDC. This is after the duo were left out of the 30-member squad. Avinesh returned from Australia over the weekend after participating in tournaments there.

Lautoka is pooled with Navua, Nadroga, Labasa and Tavua. The Blues last won the IDC back in 2008.
