THE Labasa soccer side has been boosted with a sponsorship ahead of the Courts Inter District Championship in Ba next week.
Household name in Vanua Levu, Kalyanji Pala Investments Limited has stepped up to support the Babasiga Lions.
Labasa Football Association vice-president Vinesh Prasad said the sponsorship was timely as they were preparing to defend the Lloyd Farebrother trophy.
"We would like to thank the management and staff of Kalyanji Pala Investments Limited for their support," Prasad said.
"We have assured them of a good outing in IDC with their financial support. I would also like to thank Amit Pala of the company who has been assisting our team since the Battle of the Giants this year.
"The Babasiga Lions will be known as Kalyanji Pala Labasa for the 2012 IDC. A fundraising dinner for the team is organised at Central Cuisine Restaurant on October 8. All interested fans are urged to buy the ticket to support the team."
Kalyanji Pala Investments company representative Pala, who was instrumental in facilitating this deal, reaffirmed their corporate responsibilities in assisting the northerners.
"Soccer is one of the major sports for our northern people," Pala said.
"By supporting the Labasa team, we will be able to resurrect the Babasiga Lions back into the position where they belong. We have always believed in giving back to community and by assisting Labasa, surely we will bring smiles on thousands of fans who are so passionate about the team."
Pala added they are very happy with the current administration of Labasa soccer and has challenged the players to rise to the occasion by defending the title.
Labasa is expected to travel to Viti Levu on October 8.
