NEW South Wales Country Fijian rugby league head coach Semesa Cadrakilagi has reminded his players that the Battle of the Bati clash against the Fiji Residents is the pathway to the 2013 Rugby League World Cup.

The NSW side, laced with former Fiji Residents players Semisi Tora, Jone Wesele, Jone Yacadrau, Lasaro Turagadrau, Viliame Cagibula, Peniasi Wakawaka and Aporosa Vosataki and England-based Tabua Cakacaka are all gunning to be included into the Fiji Bati team.

National coach Rick Stone will be watching the Battle of the Bati match on Wednesday to pick his team for a friendly match against Italy on October 12. Cadrakilagi said his players needed to look at the RLWC as their ultimate goal.

"This is the only chance for these players to start proving themselves if they want to be in the world cup next year. They need to step up their game.

"Most of these players have the experience and have been playing for the Fiji Residents in the past." Cadrakilagi said.
