LAUTOKA midfielder Zibraaz Sahib netted twice to help Fiji win the FANCA Muslim Soccer tournament in Lautoka yesterday.
Fiji beat Canada 2-1 in the main final at Churchill Park late yesterday afternoon to hoist the coveted title after a lapse of eight years.
The former Natabua High School (NHS) student, who has been in top form for the Blues, scored both goals in the first half.
Sahib's recent rise in soccer is no surprise as the sport is in his blood. His father, Hanif, played for Lautoka as well and his brothers, Robert and Alfraaz, are also products of NHS and represented Lautoka.
Another Lautoka and former NHS player who featured prominently for Fiji in the tournament was Taslim Rahiman.
Navua goalkeeper Shiek Moshin won the best goalkeeper of the tournament award, former Navua player Siga Ali won the best defensive player award.
The finals of the tournament had to be moved from Nadi's Prince Charles Park to Lautoka because the ground had become unplayable.
Fiji also won the under-21 grade, the golf tournament and the tug-of-war. Australia won the 35+ soccer tournament and the volleyball tournament while Canada won the 42+ soccer grade.
