THE Macuata Primary School Netball Association organised an awards ceremony in Labasa last Saturday to show their appreciation to the young netters for their hard work and effort.

The association took six teams to the Fiji Primary Schools Netball tournament last month.

Contingent manager Nunia Vuniwaqa said the idea of organising such an event was to thank the girls for their great performance at the national level.

"Two of our teams reached the finals and three competed in the quarter-finals," Vuniwaqa said.

"The girls have improved their sporting skills and tactics this year and we are really happy for them because their talents have been exposed."

Vuniwaqa said they were also appreciative of the support from parents.

"The parents have been supportive and some of them travelled with us to Suva. We will continue to support them (girls) as most of them are potential national reps in the coming years."

The teams that competed in the national meet in Suva were the under-9, U10, U11, U12, U13 and U14.

The event, attended by more than 100 people, also featured entertainments and dinner.
