A GLOBAL shipping agent has revealed big plans to start their own container freight station in mid October.
This means, the company — Famous Pacific Shipping (NZ) Limited will soon provide additional services for the import and export of cargo to and from Fiji.
FPS acting operations manager Krishnil Singh said plans to diversify their business to the next level would ensure premium service was delivered to their clients at all times without failure.
"This will surely create employment opportunities for people within the shipping industry and we will work very closely with all stakeholders," he said.
"Investors play a vital role in the economic growth of our country and I believe the government of the day is well-focused on encouraging and allowing overseas companies to invest here."
Mr Singh said the container freight station would make a difference to their service pattern and remained confident their customers would enjoy this added feature.
"At the moment, we are focusing on making this new business venture a success and use this as a platform to increase our local export volume to other countries," he said.
The company organised a social event at the Defence Club in Suva last week where a number of key clients turned up.
Though their head office is in New Zealand, Mr Singh said FPS (Fiji) opened its first office in Suva in 1999 and has become the largest mover of cargo from Asia to Fiji.
