HEAVY rainfall experienced in Vanua Levu this week caused water disruptions to some areas in Labasa.
As a result, consumers in Vunivau, Soasoa, Cawaira, Basoga, Bulileka, Lajonia, Rara Housing, Wailevu, Nasekula, Delailabasa, Tuatua Housing, Siberia, Batinikama, Naduna and Tovata were asked to store and use water wisely.
Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) spokeswoman Kelera Serelini said the heavy rain affected the raw water supply to the Benau water treatment plant.
“Repair works are well-underway and supply is expected to normalise soon,” Ms Serelini said.
“We request consumers to store and use rain water while repair works are in progress.”
Delailabasa resident Mere Vakacegui said they were without proper water supply since Friday.
“There was no water in the morning (Friday) until 9pm. The supply was too slow and we weren’t informed that this disruption will continue today,” she said yesterday.
“We only hope water is fully restored since our house chores like cooking and washing are affected.”
Meanwhile, the weather office in Nadi has recorded an active trough of low pressure with associated cloud and rain slowing moving over the country.
It is expected to affect the group until midday today.
