THE Fiji women's sevens team will rely on its aggressive and defensive play to book a place in the Rugby World Cup Sevens next year.
The Fijiana needs to finish in top three at the 2012 Asian Rugby Women's Championship in Pune, India next weekend to make the RWC 7s in Moscow, Russia.
Coach Elenoa Kunatuba admitted while they lacked speed in the team, there were other factors to cushion the effect on the areas they lacked on.
"We tried to lure the athletes from Team Fiji but I think they have signed a condition that they cannot be part of any other sport," Kunatuba said.
"But we can adjust with our forwards play. We have the height and enough speed upfront and with the huge tackles that will come in from our players, I think we will be able to eliminate those missing factors."
Kunatuba, who announced the 12-member team yesterday, retained eight players who were part of the national team at the Oceania Women's Qualifiers.
The four new players who have forced their way into the team include Adi Sainimera Nalewenikataga, Timaima Ravisa, Litia Naiqato and Luisa Tisolo.
Halfback Ana Maria Roqica has been named the captain of the team.
The Fijiana is pooled with Chinese Taipei, South Korea and Sri Lanka at the Asian 7s from October 6 to 7.
