SAVUSAVU has filed a protest against Nadroga after going down 1-3 in the Fiji Sun/GP Batteries National Football League at Lawaqa Park last Sunday.
The Savusavu Football Association claims that Nadroga fielded a player in the match who was not registered for the competition.
Fiji Football Association chief executive Bob Kumar confirmed receiving the protest.
He said the protest hearing would now be done during the Courts Inter-district Championship in Ba next month.
Savusavu finished at the bottom of the 2012 NFL with only two wins in the competition. The side ended with nine points behind Tavua on 11 points.
If the protest goes in favour of Savusavu, then Tavua will be relegated to last spot.
As per the current format, the bottom placed team will have to feature in the promotion-relegation playoffs with the winner of the premier division.
However, an uncertainty surrounds the NFL format for next season which will start in December.
This is after the sponsors for the competition proposed a Super Eight format to make it more attractive for the fans after low crowds were recorded this year.
The new format will be discussed during the Fiji FA ordinary congress in Ba next month.
