THE Sabeto Roosters walloped the Makoi Bulldogs 58-0 during the opening match of the 2012 Divisional Crime Prevention Community Carnival triple header at Churchill Park in Lautoka yesterday.

The Bulldogs defeated the Roosters 12-10 during the final of the Vodafone Cup earlier this month.

Peniasi Wakawaka and Roger Qoro both scored hat-tricks in the encounter.

The Sigatoka Electric-sponsored Roosters led 18-0 at the break.

The Fair Trade Bulldogs had arrived late from Suva and failed to settle in the match, making it a one way affair.

Petaia Saukuru and Esira Dokoni scored a brace of tries. Kelemedi Silikiwai, Tela Qoro, Samuela Varo, Tevita Seru and Inia Tora scored the other tries for the Roosters.

Roosters team coach Vela Tawake said they would now prepare for the 9s tournaments coming up. He said focus thereafter would be on the off season training.

"This year we had a development team and we reached the final which is certainly a positive sign," Tawake said.

"We will now prepare for the 9s tournament. Thereafter we will try and keep the players occupied with the off season training program. We need the players to recover from the hectic season as well."
