Beqa Adventure Divers, along with the Pacific Harbour Multicultural School will be hosting a beach clean up on October 9, as part of a 'Keep Fiji Clean' initiative.

Diver, Nanise Ledua said the clean-up initiative was a good way of getting children from the school and around that area to understand the negative impacts of pollution.

"Pollution really affects the livelihoods of fish and other sea creatures.

"Therefore it is important that children learn about this now.

"A beach clean-up is an active way of getting them involved, so we thought this would be the best way to teach them about proper rubbish disposal and the side effects of polluting," she said.

The ceremony will be held at the Multicultural School next month, followed by the beach clean- up.
