FIJI was placed on a high pedestal at the 2012 Beijing International Property Expo but not for something unsettling or unusual.

Instead the uniqueness and status of our country as the hub of the Pacific was the perfect opportunity for persuading investors and potential tourists to visit our shores.

This is what managing director and owner of Naisoso Island Bob Lowres did when he attended one of the largest expositions in the world recently.

Among the 100,000 international property industry representatives from across Asia, Mr Lowres was interviewed several times by the Chinese television station, CCTV, reaching 100 million viewers in 140 countries.

It was this opportunity that sparked the patriotic Mr Lowres to promote the best of Fiji.

"Fiji is an amazing place to do business and with Fiji Airways soon to launch its new fleet even more people will be able to effortlessly enjoy everything Fiji has to offer," he said.

"We're seeing more and more people visiting Fiji from China and many of these investors are taking the time to visit Naisoso Island.

"Fiji is famous for its vast natural beauty and friendly people."

He added there were many ways international investors could benefit from the strong opportunities available in Fiji.

Meanwhile, Tourism permanent secretary Elizabeth Powell expressed appreciation towards individuals promoting Fiji abroad but encouraged more collaboration with line ministries to ensure important information about possible investments and tourism is disseminated.
