THE Western Division Crime Prevention Carnival 2012 ends today with sports being the major highlight of its closing.

Three major games will be held at Lautoka's Churchill Park where a large crowd is expected to converge to mark the end of the week-long festival.

Police spokeswoman Ana Naisoro said the three matches organised by the Western Crime Prevention Committee were aimed at raising funds for the various projects outlined to be achieved with the money raised from the week-long carnival.

"This includes the upgrading of community posts, introduction of mobile caravans and various other projects earmarked to be undertaken by the Crime Prevention Committee West.

"Organisers are hoping the event will not only serve as an opportunity for members of the public to enjoy three sporting events in one location, but also an avenue of awareness by the Fiji Police Force on the need for continued partnership towards fighting crime in the Western Division," said Ms Naisoro.
