Commission in Levuka

THREE constitution commissioners will be in Levuka today to hear the submissions of the people of the old capital.

Constitution commissioners Penelope Moore, Prof Christina Murray and Constitution Commission chairman Prof Yash Ghai will hear submissions in Levuka before heading to Vanua Levu on Monday.

The commission will be holding a full-day of hearings today with the first session scheduled at Eli Peceli Hall in Levuka while the second set of hearings will take place at the Bureta Village hall.

Prof Christina Murray said the Constitution Commission was looking forward to hearing more from people on what electoral system they wanted to follow as well as what structures of local government people would like to see.
