HE might look like any ordinary 15-year-old boy but Jitendra Sami is a giant among men when it comes to his passion — golf.
After winning the C-grade best overall award during the Fiji Premium Vanu Levu Golf Championship last week, he said the experience of playing golf was overwhelming.
“Being a caddy since I started off I used to play golf at the Siberia Golf Link course with a guava stick practising my swings and aims,” Sami said.
“This year, things have changed for me and I got my first taste of professional golf with the support of my family, especially my father and my mother.
“I dream to be a professional golfer and playing against the adults during the Fiji Premium Vanua Levu Golf Championship has taught me that the sky’s the limit.”
Sami said there was no feeling like beating some experienced hands.
“I am planning to come back stronger and better next year,” Sami said.
“There are a few things that I need to touch up and this includes my putting. This means going back to the golf link in Siberia to improve myself.
“I encourage children out there to come over to the golf link for free golf clinics.”
