FOLLOWING the celebration of National Library Week in the Buca Bay area, the students, including those on the islands of Rabi and Kioa, now have access to a library centre.
While opening the centre, roko tui Cakaudrove Ro Aca Mataitini lauded the Library Services of Fiji for having the insight to include such a service for students within Kama District. “The onus is upon the community to make use of the service because the books are now available to them,” said Ro Mataitini.
“Children need to be encouraged to read because this is truly the key to unlocking their future.
“Reading is indeed the doorway to dreams and possibilities,” he said.
“It is indeed an honour to witness opportunities when our young ones have such facilities.”
Ro Mataitini said the opening of the centre meant a freely accessible centre of wealth and knowledge.
“This will not only benefit the children of Kama district but also students on the islands of Kioa and Rabi,” he said. Ro Mataitini said the children would now have a different perspective of Library Week since the opening of the centre.
