Grand complex

IT’S a bit too early to welcome the New Year but the Damodar Group of Companies is particularly enthusiastic about 2013 with plans for a grand opening of the $30million Damodar City complex in Laucala Bay, Suva.

Group chief executive officer Div Damodar confirmed the actual construction of the centre is expected to be completed in December — and alongside tenants, are planning a fitting opening.

“The centre anchor tenancy will comprise more than just one tenant as is usually the case in most shopping malls,” he said.

“In the case of Damodar City, there are as much as three tenants who would equally play the role of the anchor tenant and these include the cinema, supermarket and department store.

“What this means is that we can expect an even greater flow of incoming traffic into the centre. All our tenants can expect to do very good business.”

However, Mr Damodar said the remaining 25 per cent of occupancy space would need the right tenancy mix to lift the image of the complex as “the centre of leisure entertainment and shopping” in the capital city.
